Several factors can contribute to eroding the gums around the teeth in a process known as recession. Recession results in exposing tooth root structure, causing sensitivity, higher risk of root decay, and long, unattractive looking teeth.
Treatment
Soft tissue grafts, or Gum Grafts, is a procedure in which gum recession is corrected by replacing the ‘eroded’ gums with tissue taken from your palate or from another donor source. Gum grafts will cover the exposed roots, decrease sensitivity, decrease risk of root decay, improve the esthetics, and prevent further recession in years to come.
